Shugoshin-liki protein 2 (SGOL2) je jedan od dva sisarska ortologa iz Shugoshin/Mei-S322 porodice proteina koji regulišu sestrinsku hromatidnunu koheziju zaštitom integriteta multiproteinskog kompleksa nazvanog kohezin.[ 8] Ovaj zaštitni sistem je neophodan za vjernu segregaciju hromosoma tokom mitoza i mejoza , što je fizička osnova Mendelovog nasljeđa .
