Funkcija
urediKalumenin (CALU) je protein koji veže kalcij lokaliziran u endoplazmatskom retikulumu (ER) i uključen je u takve funkcije ER, kao što su savijanje proteina i sortiranje. Kalumenin je član natporodice EF-šaka u ER i Golgijevom aparatu pod imenom CERC. CERC je akronim za članove svoje porodice Cab-45, retikulokalbin, Erc-55 (RCN2) i kalumenin. Gen CALU kodira izvedeni protein od 315 aminokiselina, koji sadrži šesr motiva EF-šake, jedno potencijalno mjesto N-glikozilacije i C-terminalni ER signal zadržavanja. CALU proteini čovjeka i miša 98% su identični. CALU iRNK se sveprisutno eksprimira u ljudskim tkivima i mapira nasekvenci 7q32.[6]
