Funkcija
urediProteini iz DEAD-kutije karakterizirani konzerviranim motivom Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), pretpostavljene su RNK helikaze. Oni su uključeni u brojne ćelijske procese promjena sekundarne strukture RNK, poput iniciranja translacije, jedarne i mitohondrijske prerade i sastavljanja ribosoma i splajsosoma. Na osnovu njihovih obrazaca distribucije, vjeruje se da su neki članovi ove porodice uključeni u embriogenezu, spermatogenezu, ćelijski rast i diobu. Ovaj gen kodira DEAD-kutijski protein, koji je funkcionalni homolog proteina fisionog kvasca Prp8, uključen u napredovanje ćelijskog ciklusa. Ovaj gen je mapiran u MHC regiji na heomosomu 6, sekvenca p21.3, regiji u kojoj su povezani mnogi geni malignih, genetičkih i autoimunskih bolesti.[6]
