Funkcija
urediOvaj gen je član porodice STEAP i kodira šestomembranski protein s više prolaza koji se nalazi u Golgijevom kompleksu, plazmamembrani i vezikulskim cjevastim strukturama u citosolu.
Izuzetno sličan protein kod miša ima i feri reduktaznu i fero reduktaznu aktivnost, te stimulira ćelijsku apsorpciju gvožđa i bakra in vitro. Povećana transkripcijska ekspresija ljudskog gena povezana je s progresijom raka prostate. Opisane su alternativne varijante transkripta, koje kodiraju različite izoforme.[7]
