Scijelin je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom SCEL.[5][6]
Protein kodiran ovim genom je prekursor orožnjalog omotača terminalno diferenciranih keratinocita. Ovaj protein se lokalizira na periferiji ćelija i može funkcionirati u sastavljanju ili regulaciji proteina u rožnoj ovojnici. Postoje varijante transkripta koje kodiraju različite izoforme. Varijanta transkripta koja koristi alternativu polyA signal opisana je u literaturi, ali njena dužina nije utvrđena.[6]
