Funkcija
urediRibosomi, organele koje kataliziraju sintezu proteina, sastoje se od male 40S i velike 60S podjedinice. Ove se podjedinice zajedno sastoje od četiri tipa RNK i približno 80 strukturno različitih proteina. Ovaj gen kodira ribosomski protein koji je komponenta podjedinice 60S. Protein pripada porodici ribosomalnih proteina L1P. Nalazi se u citoplazmi. Ekspresija ovog gena smanjena je u timusu, pomoću ciklosporin-A (CsA), imunosupresivnog lijeka.
Studije na miševima pokazale su da je ekspresija gena ribsomnog proteina L10a snižena u neuronskim ćelijama prekursorima tokom razvoja. Ovaj gen se nekada nazivao NEDD6 (ćelija eksprimiranog neuronskog prekursora, razvojno smanjena 6), ali je preimenovan u RPL10A (ribosomski protein 10a). Kao što je tipsko za gene koji kodiraju ribosomske proteine, postoji više obrađenih pseudogena ovog gena raspršenih širom genoma.[7]
