Inozitol-fosfati (IP) i difosfoinozitol-fosfati (PP-IP), poznati i kao inozitol-pirofosfati, djeluju kao molekule ćelijske signalizacije.

HISPPD1 ima aktivnosti IP6 kinaza (EC: 2.7.4.21) i PP-IP5 (također zvane IP7) kinaze (EC: 2.7.4.24) koje proizvode visokoenergetske pirofosfate PP-IP5 i PP2 -IP4 (naziva se i IP8) (Fridy et al., 2007 PubMed 17690096]).
