Funkcija
urediProtein kodiran ovim genom je enzim vezan za membranu, homodimerni enzim koji je lokaliziran u cisternama grubog hrapavog endoplazmatskog retikuluma. Enzim (kofaktori gvožđe i askorbat) katalizira hidroksilaciju ostataka lizina u kolagenim peptidima. Rezultirajuće hidroksilzil grupe su mjesta vezivanja ugljikohidrata u kolagenu i stoga su kritične za stabilnost međumolekulskih umrežavanja. Neki pacijenti sa Ehlers-Danlosovim sindromom tip VIB imaju nedostatke u aktivnosti lizil-hidroksilaze.[7]
