Funkcija
urediHLA-DPB pripada paralozima beta lanca HLA klase II. Ova molekula klase II je heterodimer koji se sastoji od alfa (DPA) i beta lanca (DPB), oba usidrena u membrani. Ima centralnu ulogu u imunskom sistemu prezentirajući peptide izvedene iz vanćelijskih proteina. Molekule klase II eksprimiraju se u antigen-prezentirajučim ćelijama (APC: B-limfociti, dendritske ćelije, makrofagi). Beta-lanac je otprilike vlik 26-28 kDa i njegov gen sadrži šest egzona. Egzon 1 kodira vodeći peptid, egzoni 2 i 3 kodiraju dva vanćelijska domena, egzon 4 kodira transmembranski domen, a egzon 5 kodira citoplazmatski rep. Unutar DP molekula i alfa lanac i beta lanac sadrže polimorfizme koji određuju specifičnosti vezivanja peptida, što rezultira u do četiri različite molekule.[4]
