Funkcija
urediProtein kodiran ovim genom je jedarni protein koji formira unutarjedarna žarišta tokom proliferacije i redistribuira se u nukleoplazmi tokom ćelijskog ciklusa. Kratkotalasno ultraljubičasto zračenje izaziva relokalizaciju proteina, sugerirajući njegovo učešće u ćelijskom odgovoru na oštećenje DNK. Izvorno odabran na osnovu vezanja za proteine s antitijelima RecA, mišji protein ima ograničenu sličnost s funkcionalnim domenom bakterijskog RecA proteina, karakteristikom koju dijeli ovaj ljudski ortolog.[6]
