Funkcija

CXCL13 je mali hemokin koji pripada porodici hemokina CXC. Kao što mu druga imena sugerrajuu, ovaj hemokin ima selektivne hemotaksije za B-ćelije u koje pripadaju i B-1 i B -2 podskupine i izaziva njegove učinke interakcijom s hemokinskim receptorom CXCR5.[5][8] CXCL13 i njegov receptor CXCR5 kontroliraju organizaciju B-ćelija unutar folikula limfoidnih tkiva[9] i izrazito je eksprimiran u ljudskoj jetri, slezeni, limfnim čvorovima i crijevima.[5] Na ljudskom hromosomu 4 gen za CXCL13 nalazi se u grupi gena drugih CXC hemokina.[6]

Smatra se da u T-limfocitima ekspresija CXCL13 odražava klicino središte T-ćelija, posebno podskupa T-ćelija koji se naziva folikulne B-pomoćne T-ćelije (ili TFH ćelije). Stoga se smatra da ekspresija CXCL13 u T-ćelijskim limfomima, kao što je angioimunoblastni T-ćelijski limfom, odražava porijeklo neoplazijskih T-ćelija iz klicinog centra.[10]
