Funkcija
urediKarnitin-oktanoiltransferaza (EC 2.3.1.137) je karnitin-aciltransferaza koja katalizira reverzibilni transfer masnih acil grupa između CoA i karnitina. Ovaj enzim regulira razgradnju masnih kiselina vrlo dugog lanca (VLCFA) izvođenjem ključnog koraka u transportu acilnih lanaca srednje dužine iz sisarskih peroksisoma u citosol i mitohondrije za daljnji raspad. Van der Leij et al (2000) pregledali su funkciju, strukturne karakteristike i filogenetiku gena ljudske karnitin-aciltransferaze, uključujući CROT (prema OMIM[6])
