TIP39 povezan je s paratiroidnim hormonom (PTH; MIM 168450 ) i s proteinima povezanim s PTH (PTHRP; MIM 168470) i ligand je za PTH receptor-2 (PTHR2; MIM 601469), prema OMIM -u.[ 6]
Molekulska interakcija TIP39 s receptorima PTH2 okarakterizirana je u 3D detaljima, identificirajući među ostalim ostacima Tyr-318 u transmembranskoj spirali 5, kao ključni ostatak za vezanje s visokim afinitetom [ 7]
