Funkcija

Ovaj gen kodira enzim koji ograničava brzinu puta biosinteze poliamina koji katalizira ornitin u putrescin. Nivo aktivnosti enzima varira kao odgovor na stimulanse koji podstiču rast i pokazuje visoku stopu obrtanja u poređenju sa drugim sisarskim proteinima. Prvobitno lokaliziran i na hromosomu 2 i hromosomu 7, utvrđeno je da se gen koji kodira ovaj enzim nalazi na poziciji 2p25, sa pseudogenom smještenim na 7q31-qter.^[6]
