Jedarce je gusta subjedarna membranska organela koja se okuplja oko klastera gena rRNK i funkcionira u biogenezi ribosoma . Ovaj gen kodira jedarčani protein povezan s RNK koji je visoko konzerviran među vrstama . Tretman permeabiliziranih ćrlija Rnazama pokazuje da je nukleolusna lokalizacija ovisna o RNK. Daljnje studije ukazuju da je protein povezan s biogenezom ribosoma kroz interakciju s primarnim transkriptima pre-rRNK. Na ovom mjestu postoji alternativna prerada i identificirane su dvije prerađene varijante koje kodiraju različite izoforme .[ 7]
