MPC2 dio je porodice proteina mitohondrikski nosači pirivata (MPC) [9] Ovaj protein uključen je u transport piruvata kroz unutrašnju mitohondrijsku membranu, u pripremi za reakciju piruvat-dehidrogenaze.[10]
