UPK1A
Uroplakin-1a je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom UPK1A.[5][6][7]
Protein koji je kodiran ovim genom član je transmembranske superporodice 4 , poznate i kao porodica tetraspanina. Većina ovih članova su proteini na ćelijskoj površini, koje karakterizira prisustvo četiri hidrofobna domene.
Proteini posreduju u signalnim događajima transdukcije, gdje imaju ulogu u regulaciji razvoja, aktivacije, rasta i pokretljivosti ćelija. Ovaj kodirani protein nalazi se u asimetričnoj jedinici membrane (AUM), gdje se može kompleksirati s ostalim transmembranskim proteinima superporodice 4.
Može imati ulogu u normalnoj fiziologiji mjehurskog epitela, moguće u reguliranju propusnosti membrane površinskih kišobranastih ćelija ili u stabilizaciji apikalne membrane preko AUM / citoskelet ne interakcije.[7]
