Ovaj gen je novi gen izoliran na osnovu njegove ekspresije u ljudskojk nadbubrežnoj žlijezdi . Protein cijele dužine kodiran ovim genom sadrži UBA-domen (domen povezan sa ubikvitinom), koji je motiv u nekoliko proteina koji imaju veze sa ubikvitinskim putem sveprisutnosti. Osim toga, protein sadrži područje slično domenu u članovima porodice atrofin -1. Funkcija ovog proteina nije utvrđena. Mogu postojati I dodatne alternativno prerađene varijante , ali njihova puna dužina nije utvrđena.[ 6]
