TOM1L2 pripada porodici proteina povezanih s TOM1, koji su uključeni u [[endocitoza|endocitozugg. Ovi proteini imaju N-terminalni Vps27 / HGS (604375) / STAM (601899) (VHS) domen, nakon čega slijedi GGA / TOM1 (GAT) domenn (Katoh et al., 2006).
- Kloniranje i ekspresija
Katoh etz al. (2006) klonirani su ljudski TOM1L2. Izvedeni protein od 457 aminokiselina ima N-terminalni VHS domen, centralni GAT domen i C-terminalni domen sa sekvencom f klatrinskog boksa.
- Funkcija gena
Koristeći imunoprecipitaciju i Western blot analize, Katoh et al. (2006) pokazali su da su C-terminalni domeni TOM1L1 i TOM1L2 u interakciji sa teškim lancem klatrina (CLTC). GAT domeni TOM1L1 i TOM1L2 u interakciji su s endosomnim proteinom TOLLIP. Zaključili su da, zajedno s TOLLIP-om, proteini porodice TOM1 regrutuju klatrin na endosome i moduliraju endosomsku funkciju.
Patricia Hartz (2013) je mapirala gen TOM1L2 u hromosomsku regiju 17p11.2 , na osnovu poravnanja sekvence TOM1L2 (GenBank AK057308) sa genomskom sekvencom (GRCh37).[8]
