Funkcija
urediPovezanost antitijela protiv sperme sa slučajevima neobjašnjive neplodnosti implicira ulogu ovih antitijela u blokiranju oplodnje. Poboljšana dijagnoza i liječenje imunske neplodnosti, kao i identifikacija proteina za ciljanu kontracepciju, ovise o identifikaciji i karakterizaciji relevantnih antigena sperme. Protein kodiran ovim genom prepoznaju spermatozoidi koji aglutiraju antitijela neplodne žene. Ovaj protein je lokaliziran u zametnim ćelijamama sjemenika u svim fazama spermatogeneze i lokaliziran je u akrosomskom području zrelih spermatozoida. Oposane su alternativno prerađene varijante koje kodiraju različite izoforme proteina, ali su određene samo dvije sekvence cijele dužine.[7]
