Ovaj i pet drugih gena koji također kodiraju pljuvačne prolinom bogate proteine (PRP), kao i gen koji kodira suznu žlijezdu PRP, tvore PRP genski klaster u regiji p13 hromosoma 12. Opisane su alternativno prerađene varijante transkripta koje kodiraju različite izoforme.
