Ovaj gen je identificiran kao c-Myc gen koji reagira i ponaša se kao direktan c-Myc ciljni gen. Utvrđeno je da prekomjerna ekspresija ovog gena pojačava transformaciju limfoblastoidnih ćelija i nadopunjuje transformacijski defektni Myc kutijski mutant II, sugerirajući njegovu uključenost u c-Myc posredovanu transformaciju ćelija. Prijavljene su dvije alternativno prerađene varijante transkripta koje kodiraju različite izoforme .[ 7]
