Euroliga za žene
Euroliga za žene (službeno engleski: FIBA EuroLeague Women) je najjače evropsko klupsko košarkaško takmičenje u ženskoj konkurenciji. Za razliku od Eurolige za muškarce, takmičenje u potpunosti organizuje FIBA Evrope.
Historija
urediEuroliga za žene predstavlja najznačajnije klupsko košarkaško takmičenje u Evropi.
Takmičenje je pokrenuto prvi put u septembru 1958. godine, a inauguralno evropsko žensko klupsko takmičenje sastojalo se od 10 timova i nastalo je nakon uspjeha ekvivalentnog turnira u muškoj konkurenciji koje je pokrenuto ranije iste godine. Muški turnir se sastojao od 46 utakmica, sa preko 100.000 gledalaca koji su pratili takmičenje. U tom periodu takmičenje je bilo poznato pod nazivom Kup evropskih prvaka za žene (engleski: European Cup For Women’s Champions Clubs). Prvi pobjednik takmičenja je bila ekipa Slavija Sofija iz istoimenog glavnog bugarskog grada pobjedivši u finalu sovjetsku ekipu Dinamo Moskva rezultatima 64:40 i 44:34. Sve do sezone 1976. godine zadržao se ovaj format finala gdje su finalisti igrali po dvije utakmice, domaću i gostujuću.
Tokom prvih godina takmičenjem je dominirala latvijska (tada Sovjetski Savez) ekipa Daugava Riga koja je u prvih 19 godina u 16 navrata bila finalist i isti broj puta osvajač titule uz još aktivni rekord u osvajanju 12 uzastopnih prvenstava.
Devedesetih godina 20. vijeka takmičenje je doživjelo dvije ključne promjene. Prva izmjena se odnosila na uvođenje Final Foura 1992. a druga na promjenu naziva takmičenja 1996. godine, kada je evropski kup preimenovan u današnju Euroligu za žene.
