Potencijalna supersila je država za koju se spekuliše da bude – ili da ima potencijal da uskoro postane – supersila.
Trenutno samo Sjedinjene Države ispunjavaju kriterije da se smatraju supersilom.[1] Međutim, Sjedinjene Države više nisu jedina neosporna najvažnija supersila i jedina svjetska hipersila koja dominira u svim domenima (tj. vojsci, kulturi, ekonomiji, tehnologiji, diplomatiji).[2][3][4][5]
Od 1990-ih Evropska unija, Indija,[6][7] Kina,[8] i Rusija,[9] su opisane kao potencijalne supersile. Japan se ranije smatrao potencijalnom supersilom zbog svog visokog ekonomskog rasta.[10][11] Međutim, njegov status potencijalne supersile je erodirao od 1990-ih zbog starenja stanovništva i ekonomske stagnacije.[12]
