Na Zapadu se Međunarodni dan žena uglavnom prestao obilježavati 1930-ih, dijelom i zbog toga što ga se povezivalo s [[komunizam|komunizmom]]. Međutim, 1960-ih su ga ponovno počele slaviti [[feminizam|feministice]].
