El-Mensur umro je 775. godine na putu do [[Mekka|Meke]] da obavi hadž. On je pokopan negdje usput u jedan od stotine grobova kako da sakrilo njegovo tijelo od Omejada. Naslijedio ga je njegov sin, el-Mehdi.
