Time su udareni temelji nove nauke, ali njezin razvoj time nije završen. Tokom godina daljeg razvoja, postavke kvantne mehanike potvrđene su kroz mnoštvo eksperimentalnih rezultata, dok je teorija razmatrala mnoga nova područja: postojanje spina, uticaj relativističkih efekata, ponašanje mnoštva čestica itd.
